The Corn Sisters are an alternative country-based female band with the contributing talents of singer and drummer Neko Case, alongside Canadian guitar player Carolyn Mark. The pair devoted their time to singing in coffee shops and small venues, which is how their popularity rose in the year 1998. The group was signed to the recording company Mint Records in the year 2000 and followed by releasing their first album called “The Other Woman” on November 24 of the same year. The Corn Sisters main song on the album was “Corn on the Cob” and was viewed as their trademark song. Their first album was recorded live in a small Seattle coffee shop called “Hattie’s Hat” and Tower Records shows they had an all time sales rank of 51041 in music, 16243 in rock and pop and their biggest success of 143 sales ranking in alternative country. Within two years, The Corn Sisters successfully went on to being featured in two other albums. The second album was released August 28, 2000 and was called “Team Mint Volume 2!” while the third and final creation was the album called “A Tribute to Robert Altman's Nashville” and was released February 5, 2002. Although The Corn Sisters were only featured in two songs off the “Team Mint Volume 2!” album, it was still a success and a chance for the duo to get public attention.
The year 2002 was reported as being the last workings of Neko Case and Carolyn Mark as The Corn Sisters. Carolyn Mark is a successful songwriter who tours extensively and has a loyal following. Neko Case has gone on to international success as a best-selling solo artist and as a member of powerpop band The New Pornographers
The Corn Sisters, along with Kelly Hogan, recorded the music for the 2005 documentary Lipstick and Dynamite.
